Developing a social media idea from your work. (we didn't have time to do this activity)
Create/facilitate a discussion/dialogue about what they saw; what are implications to you in your work; your learning new skills; your work with clients; how do you feel about learning new skills; what are the challenges you face in incorporating these tools in your work and development etc…
If you were to create a video or picture story about your work that would inform, educate and or advocate for your clients and your organizations Mission. Work in a small group of 3 to 4 people and come up with a social media idea (audio, video, pictures, text, or a combination of any of these)
the purpose of this is to help the participants see themselves as content creators with important stories to share. It is just to give them a taste of thinking outside the box - not looking at all the barriers to doing such a project within your organization or sector.....
Template:
- Identify the issue you want to highlight/change
- Choose the tools (social media) you will use
- Who will be the leading "actors" in the production (good guys, bad guys, problem, solutions etc)
Explain your idea to the group - why it is important to tell this story; who will be your audience; what is your goals; where can it be seen
This slideshare is not showing up in the Wiki but you can see it here... www.slideshare.net/janehart/using-social-media2 I like this one because it has stats in Britain that can be extrapolated or applied here in Canada.
This slideshare covers the digital divide and what it means in terms of exclusion. It shows the advances and forward thinking on using technology in Britain..tinyurl.com/5s8cy5
